Daniel's working notes

The collector’s fallacy

It’s a tendency to collect all the stuff we think good and feel good about it. We think by collecting those things, we understand about it eventhough in fact we only knew it exists.

Collecting doesn’t increase our knowledge. That’s why it’s important to taking notes on what we read. Reading alone will not retain information we consume.

To be honest, I have this collector’s fallacy things. I often buy books or course just to read or do several chapters. This because I feel like I’ve learn enough.

Knowing that collecting material itself is not enough, limiting what we consume so it’s manageable to be processed into notes could be a way to avoid collector’s fallacy.
